War Dream Sequence

Narrative Feature

Historical Accuracy.

We live in a time when dissecting a film is easily accessible. We aren’t limited to viewings in a theatre. Scouring for continuity errors, a piece of modern tech in a period piece, a slight glitch in a visual effects shot, etc. isn’t difficult. Art is meant to be experienced in a deliberate space & time. Analyzing a film in this manner is akin to looking at a painting with a magnifying glass. From that vantage, flawed brush strokes lose their meaning. This isn’t what the artist intended.

The War scene from, “Saving For The Day,” is a dream. Dreams are the only sanctuary from the aforementioned, obsessive dissections. All “errors” can be chalked up to flaws in the mind of the dreamer.
